Volcano Lair may refer to 70323 Jestro’s Volcano Lair. For other uses, visit Volcano Lair (disambiguation).

The Volcano Lair is the castle of Monstrox the Necromancer, currently inhabited by Jestro and the Book of Monsters. It serves as the base of operations of the Lava Monster Army. The Lair is defended by Globlin shooters, giant sawblades, and various other traps. It is located in Knighton's Lava Lands

History

The Volcano Lair was used as a base by Monstrox during his reign of terror. After Merlok defeated Monstrox, he miniaturized the castle and sealed it inside of a snow globe, which he placed in the Knights Academy library before the events of the series.

Season 1

The Lava Lands are shown briefly in the season finale, although the Volcano Lair is neither shown nor referenced.

Season 2

In Back to School, Jestro and the Book of Monsters attack the Knights Academy library. They trick the knights into protecting the Book of Armaments while they steal the snow globe containing the Volcano Lair. Afterwards, they return to the Lava Lands and throw the globe into a lava lake, breaking the enchantment and returning the Volcano Lair to its original size. Jestro and the Book of Monsters continue to use the Lair as their base of operations for the rest of the season. In The Fortrex and the Furious, Jestro is recaptured by the Book of Monsters and chained in the center of the Lair's Dark Arena, where the Book of Monsters plans to use him as a new body once he regains his original power.

Trivia

  • The Volcano Lair is very different from its set form, being much taller while not as wide and lacking various features of the set, most notably the massive rotating mouth in the front of the castle.
  • In the episode Greed is Good?, the Volcano Lair is shown to have a large treasure room, which still houses a solid gold statue of Jestro posing like The Thinker.
  • In the POV webisode Attack and Rescue, Aaron Fox is chained at the top of the Lair, which appears to be completely unfurnished. This is another departure from the set, which features a rather inconvenient stilted throne on the roof. However, the Globlin-firing secondary throne from the set is shown being used as a rapid-fire Globlin cannon by Beast Master in the webisode.
