“Great dragons of doom! Yes! It took all my magic and the power I assembled to defeat Monstrox! I then split his evil into twelve magical books to keep him from ever coming together again and be a threat!”
Merlok 2.0 in "The Fortrex and the Furious"

Monstrox is an evil necromancer and the main enemy of the Nexo Knights.

History[]

Main article: Monstrox/History

Monstrox was an evil sorcerer who was originally part of the Wizards' Council. Due to his hunger for power, he began experimenting with evil spells and Forbidden Powers. He soon became vengeful towards Merlok and battled him, but was ultimately defeated. Merlok kept his consciousness in a book, turning him into the Book of Monsters, where he was to rest in a library for all eternity while his power and Lava Monsters were trapped and distributed between twelve evil spellbooks. Foolishly, Merlok left all the books in the library.

He was awoken when a young and down-on-his-luck jester named Jestro entered the library. In an act of pure desperation, he grabbed the book, and he summoned a monster. Merlok cast a spell to destroy the monster, scattering the evil books everywhere.

He and Jestro would go on to locate the evil books throughout the kingdom, finding Lava Monsters along the way and him growing stronger. After obtaining all the books, he tried to restore himself into human form but was defeated after being magically attacked by Techcalibur. His essence was then sent to the skies, transforming him into the Cloud of Monstrox.

He then worked with Jestro once more to locate the Forbidden Powers to awaken an even more dangerous force, the Stone Colossus. Monstrox was successfully able to control the Colossus and lay siege upon Knighton. He was only defeated after an extreme showing of force from the Nexo Knights, Mechlok and a powerful spell.

After being destroyed as the Stone Colossus, he was reborn by Ruina Stoneheart as a digital virus, the Monstrox virus.[1] He went on to meet an old friend, Dragov, and destroy Merlok once and for all.

Personality[]

Primarily defined by his dry sense of humor and false pretenses of support and encouragement, Monstrox is shown to be very sarcastic and manipulative, easily getting what he wants through coercion and persuasion. Often using those around him as a means to an end, he tends to be abusive towards his underlings.

Though capable of sentimentality, nostalgia and affection, Monstrox continues to be abrasive and mean-spirited. With a victim complex where any slight against him is interpreted as betrayal and failure on the part of those who slights him and sends him into fits of either tears or rage. He can also play the harmonica, but he is an awful singer, according to Jestro.

Appearance[]

The Book of Monsters was a large brown book with a gruesome, living face on its cover. He uses a silk bookmark as a lizard-like tongue, and grows larger with every spellbook he consumes. He has yellow eyes with slit pupils and very sharp teeth.

Following his second defeat, Monstrox appeared as a white storm cloud with his old face on the front. In this state, he can move independently, generate electrical bolts, and channel dark magic to animate unliving objects or corrupt other people. Instead of a tongue, electricity sparks from his mouth.

In his virus form, he became an essentially green version of his human self but with no printing on his outfit and with his face being more visible.

LEGO.com descriptions[]

Book of Monsters[]

The Book of Monsters is not bad. He is terrible! Manipulative, power-hungry and really good at being mean to others. He is highly intelligent and filled from cover to cover with both horrible monsters and vicious plans to take over Knighton. Since he is just a book, he needs someone to perform the actual bad deeds for him. Someone he can lure with promises of power, manipulate with ideas of evil and shout insults at when it fails.

Cloud of Monstrox[]

First he was a necromancer in human form, then he was trapped in the Book of Monsters and now he is a cloud. Monstrox is the most evil... uhm... vapor? But even in the form of a cloud, Monstrox is still very powerful. His lightning can turn good people evil and animate stone statues to obey his every twisted command. He has given up on taking over Knighton, now he is out for full-on destruction, of course mixed with his usual humorous insults. You think you have seen bad weather? Then check out this dark cloud![2]
